Tetracycline Hydrochloride 500mg, Oral capsule
• Interaction: Calcium-containing foods• Severity: Major• Notes for Consumers: Specific food that is high in calcium such as dairy products (cheese, milk, yogurt, or cottage cheese) can decrease the absorption of Tetracycline (Antibiotic) from the stomach. Taking dairy product or other high-calcium foods together together with Tetracycline can decrease the effectiveness of Tetracycline to treat an infection. To limit this interaction, take Tetracycline at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals or milk.• Notes for Professionals: Calcium salts that are present in foods and dairy products can form chelates with tetracycline and impair absorption. Administer tetracycline at least one hour prior to or two hours after a meal and/or milk. -
