• Interaction: Alcohol• Severity: Major• Notes for Consumers: Talk to your doctor about the use of Alcohol during treatment with Esketamine. This combination may make you feel more drowsy or tired and Alcohol can worsen the symptoms of depression making Esketamine less effective in treating your condition. After receiving a dose of Esketamine, do not drive or engage in other activities requiring complete mental alertness until the next day after a restful sleep. If you notice confusion, dizziness, extreme sleepiness, lightheadedness, slurred speech, severe weakness, or difficulty breathing, contact your healthcare provider immediately.• Notes for Professionals: It is advisable to avoid alcohol during treatment with esketamine. Concomitant use of alcohol and esketamine may enhance the sedative effects of esketamine. Patients who have received a dose of esketamine should be instructed not to drive or engage in other activities requiring complete mental alertness until the next day after a restful sleep. -

• Interaction: Caffeine-containing Foods/Beverages• Severity: Moderate• Notes for Consumers: Before starting treatment with Esketamine, inform your doctor if you regularly consume caffeine-containing foods and beverages. Your doctor may advise you to limit your Caffeine intake. Both Esketamine and Caffeine can increase blood pressure. If you develop high blood pressure or experience symptoms of a very high blood pressure, such as chest pain or shortness of breath, contact your doctor right away.• Notes for Professionals: Patients who regularly consume caffeine-containing foods or beverages may need to limit caffeine intake during esketamine treatment. Blood pressure should be closely monitored in patients treated with esketamine who regularly consume caffeine. Esketamine can increase blood pressure at all recommended doses and caffeine is a stimulant that may cause additive effects on blood pressure when combined with esketamine.
