IBRUTINIB (eye BROO ti nib) treats some types of cancer. It works by slowing down the growth of cancer cells. It may also be used to treat a condition that can occur after a stem cell or bone marrow transplant (chronic graft versus host disease).

    Notes for Consumers: Do not take Ibrutinib with grapefruit, grapefruit juice, or Seville oranges. Taking these together may increase Ibrutinib side effects that might be increased include diarrhea, musculoskeletal pain, rash, nausea, bruising or bleeding, fatigue, and fever or infection.
    Notes for Professionals: Advise patients to avoid the concomitant use of ibrutinib and grapefruit, grapefruit juice, or Seville oranges during ibrutinib therapy. ibrutinib expsoure may increase resulting in severe ibrutinib toxicity (e.g., hematologic toxicity, bleeding, infection). Ibrutinib is a CYP3A4 substrate; grapefruit and Seville oranges are strong and/or moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors. When ibrutinib was administered with multiple doses of strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, the Cmax and AUC values of ibrutinib were increased significantly.
