  • Topotecan Hydrochloride 0.25mg, Oral capsule

    Interaction: Grapefruit juice
    Severity: Major
Notes for Consumers: Do not take Topotecan with Grapefruit Juice without talking with your health care provider. Side effects of Topotecan may get worse. Tell your health care provider immediately if you notice any new or unusual side effects including fever, chills, cough, sore throat, pain or difficulty passing urine, blood in the urine, bruising, pinpoint red spots on the skin, black, tarry stools, unusually weak or tired, feeling faint or lightheaded, falls, or diarrhea.
Notes for Professionals: Avoid taking oral topotecan with grapefruit juice due to increased topotecan exposure; grapefruit juice may be taken with intravenous topotecan. Oral topotecan is a substrate of P-glycoprotein (P-gp) and grapefruit juice is a P-gp inhibitor. Oral administration within 4 hours of another P-gp inhibitor increased the dose-normalized AUC of topotecan lactone and total topotecan 2-fold to 3-fold compared to oral topotecan alone.
