GENTLE LAXATIVE (Generic for CORRECTOL) Lifestyle Interactions

  • Bisacodyl 5mg, Oral tablet

    Interaction: Milk Containing Products
    Severity: Mild
Notes for Consumers: The use of Bisacodyl with milk or milk-food products (i.e., yogurt) can cause the coating of the Bisacodyl tablet to dissolve too quickly. This may lead to an upset stomach or a reduction in the amount of bisacodyl that is needed to relieve constipation. Take Bisacodyl on an empty stomach, 1 hour before or 1 hour after any milk products. Do not chew or crush the bisacodyl tablet; swallow it whole with a full glass of water.
Notes for Professionals: The concomitant use of bisacodyl oral tablets with milk-containing products can cause the enteric coating of the bisacodyl tablets to dissolve prematurely, leading to possible gastric irritation or dyspepsia. When taking bisacodyl tablets, it is advisable to avoid ingesting milk products within 1 hour before or after the bisacodyl dosage.
