ERYTHROMYCIN (er ith roe MYE sin) prevents or treats eye infections caused by bacteria. It belongs to a group of medications called antibiotics. It will not treat infections caused by viruses.

What is this medication?
How should I use this medication?

This medication is only for use in the eye. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Wash hands before and after use. Tilt your head back slightly and pull your lower eyelid down with your index finger to form a pouch. Try not to touch the tip of the tube, to your eye, fingertips, or any other surface. Squeeze the end of the tube to apply a thin layer of the ointment to the inside of the lower eyelid. Close the eye gently to spread the ointment. Your vision may blur for a few minutes. Use your doses at regular intervals. Do not use your medication more often than directed. Finish the full course prescribed by your care team even if you think your condition is better. Do not stop using except on the advice of your care team.
Talk to your care team regarding the use of this medication in children. Special care may be needed.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.
What may interact with this medication?

Interactions are not expected. Do not use any other eye products without telling your care team.

-Allergic reactions—skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
-New or worsening eye pain, redness, irritation, or discharge

-Irritation at the application site

Where should I keep my medication?

Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Do not freeze. Throw away any unused ointment after the expiration date.
