TRIHEPTANOIN (trye HEP ta noyn) is a fat supplement. It is used to provide calories and fatty acids for patients with long-chain fatty acid oxidation disorders (LC-FAOD).
This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

Take this medication by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Take this medication with food. Take your medication at regular intervals. Do not take it more often than directed. Do not stop taking except on your care team's advice.
This medication comes with INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE. Ask your pharmacist for directions on how to use this drug. Read the information carefully. Talk to your pharmacist or care team if you have questions.
Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. While this medication may be prescribed for children as young as newborns for selected conditions, precautions do apply.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.

Visit your care team for regular checks on your progress. Tell your care team if your symptoms do not start to get better or if they get worse.
You may need to follow a special diet. Talk to your care team.
If you are using this medication in a feeding tube, monitor your feeding tube to make sure it is working properly. Notify your care team of any problems.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. Take the following doses 3 to 4 hours apart. If it is not possible to take all the doses for the day, skip the missed dose.

Side effects that you should report to your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible:
-allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives; swelling of the face, lips, or tongue
-feeding tube problems
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report these to your doctor or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):
-diarrhea
-nausea
-stomach pain
-vomiting

Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
Store at room temperature between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F). Keep the medication in the original bottle. Throw away unused medication after it expires or 90 days after opening, whichever is first.
