DEXLANSOPRAZOLE DR (Generic for DEXILANT) Lifestyle Interactions

  • Dexlansoprazole 60mg, Oral capsule, biphasic release

    Interaction: Alcohol
    Severity: Major
Notes for Consumers: Avoid alcoholic drinks when taking dexlansoprazole orally disintegrating tablets (SoluTabs). Alcohol may change how the drug is released in your body. This may cause the drug to become less effective. Tell your prescriber if you feel your medicine is not working as expected.
Notes for Professionals: Avoid alcoholic beverages (ethanol) when taking dexlansoprazole delayed-release orally disintegrating tablets (SoluTabs). Alcohol may modify the release rate of dexlansoprazole from the SoluTab, possibly resulting in reduced efficacy.
  • Dexlansoprazole 60mg, Oral capsule, biphasic release

    Interaction: Food
    Severity: Moderate
Notes for Consumers: Food may decrease the amount of Dexansoprazole absorbed by the stomach, which can decrease the acid reducing effects of Dexansoprazole. To limit this interaction, it is best to take Dexlansoprazole on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes prior to a meal whenever possible.
Notes for Professionals: Dexlansoprazole can be taken without regard to food. However, when taken with food, a slight decrease was observed in the percentage of time the intragastric pH exceeded 4 over a 24-hour dosing interval (57% after meal vs. 64% fasting).
