GLYCOPYRROLATE (GLY koe PYE roe late) is used to treat the symptoms of stomach ulcers. It is given in combination with medications that help heal the ulcer.
This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

Take this medication by mouth. Take it as directed on the prescription label. Do not take this medication with water. Leave the tablet in the sealed pack until you are ready to take it. With dry hands, open the pack and gently remove the tablet. If the tablet breaks or crumbles, throw it away. Use a new tablet. Place the tablet in the mouth and allow it to dissolve. Then, swallow it. Do not cut, crush, or chew this medication. Take it on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before and 2 hours after food. Keep taking it unless your care team tells you to stop.
Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. Special care may be needed.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.

-Antihistamines for allergy, cough, and cold
-Atropine
-Certain formulations of potassium chloride
-Certain medicines for bladder problems like oxybutynin, tolterodine
-Certain medicines for irregular heart beat like disopyramide, procainamide, lidocaine, mexiletine, flecainide, propafenone, quinidine
-Certain medicines for Parkinson's disease like benztropine, trihexyphenidyl
-Certain medicines for psychotic disorders
-Certain medicines for seizures like phenobarbital, primidone
-Certain medicines for stomach problems like dicyclomine, hyoscyamine
-Certain medicines for travel sickness like scopolamine
-Ipratropium
-TCAs, medicines for depression like amitriptyline, clomipramine, desipramine

Visit your care team for regular checks on your progress. Tell your care team if your symptoms do not start to get better or if they get worse.
You may get drowsy or dizzy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs mental alertness until you know how this medication affects you. Do not sit or stand up quickly, especially if you are an older patient. This reduces the risk of dizzy or fainting spells.
Alcohol may interfere with the effects of this medication. Avoid alcoholic drinks.
Avoid extreme heat. This medication can cause you to sweat less than normal. Your body temperature could increase to dangerous levels, which may lead to heat stroke.
Your mouth may get dry. Chewing sugarless gum or sucking hard candy and drinking plenty of water may help. Contact your care team if the problem does not go away or is severe.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.

Side effects that you should report to your care team as soon as possible:
-Allergic reactions—skin rash or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue
-Blurred vision
-Confusion
-Decreased sweating
-Fast, irregular heartbeat
-Trouble passing urine
-Unusually weak or tired
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report these to your care team if they continue or are bothersome):
-Constipation
-Dizziness
-Drowsiness
-Dry mouth
-Facial flushing (redness)
-Headache
-Nausea, Vomiting

Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
Store at room temperature between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F). Keep this medication in the original packaging until you are ready to take it. Get rid of any unused medication after the expiration date.
To get rid of medications that are no longer needed or have expired:
-Take the medication to a medication take-back program. Check with your pharmacy or law enforcement to find a location.
-If you cannot return the medication, check the label or package insert to see if the medication should be thrown out in the garbage or flushed down the toilet. If you are not sure, ask your care team. If it is safe to put it in the trash, take the medication out of the container. Mix the medication with cat litter, dirt, coffee grounds, or other unwanted substance. Seal the mixture in a bag or container. Put it in the trash.
