CYSTEAMINE (sis TEE a meen) is for use in the eye to break down cystine. This medicine is not a cure.
This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

This medicine is only for use in the eye. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Wash hands before and after use. Tilt your head back slightly and pull your lower eyelid down with your index finger to form a pouch. Try not to touch the tip of the dropper or tube to your eye, fingertips, or other surfaces. Squeeze the prescribed number of drops into the pouch. Close the eye gently to spread the drops. Do not use your medicine more often than directed. Do not stop using except on the advice of your doctor or health care professional.
Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. While this drug may be prescribed for selected conditions, precautions do apply.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.

Interactions are not expected. Do not use any other eye products without telling your doctor or health care professional.

Visit your health care professional for regular checks on your progress. Tell your health care professional if your symptoms do not start to get better or if they get worse.
Tell your health care professional right away if you have any change in your eyesight.
If you wear contact lenses, ask your health care professional when you can wear your lenses again.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses.

Side effects that you should report to your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible:
-allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives; swelling of the face, lips, or tongue
-eye pain
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report these to your doctor or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):
-blurred vision
-eye irritation, itching
-headache
-sensitivity to light
