It may also be used to treat nausea and vomiting, prolonged hiccups, episodes of porphyria, and tetanus. It can also help you relax before a procedure. It belongs to a group of medications called antipsychotics.

    Notes for Consumers: Drinking large amounts of Ethanol during treatment with Duloxetine can cause severe liver problems, which may result in death in some cases. It is best to avoid alcohol while taking Duloxetine. Notify your healthcare provider right away if you develop signs or symptoms of liver problems such as itching, right upper belly pain, dark urine, or yellowing of the skin or eyes while taking Duloxetine.
    Notes for Professionals: Duloxetine should not be prescribed to patients with substantial ethanol use. Although duloxetine does not appear to increase the impairment of mental and motor skills caused by ethanol, substantial ethanol consumption during treatment with duloxetine has resulted in severe, and sometimes fatal, hepatotoxicity.
