    Interaction: Grapefruit juice
    Severity: Mild
    Notes for Consumers: Grapefruit juice may increase levels of hormones in the blood. Do not significantly change your grapefruit intake while taking Etonogestrel. Report any increase in common side effects, like headache, nausea, fluid retention, or mood changes to your health care professional.
    Notes for Professionals: Coadministration of etonogestrel and strong CYP3A4 inhibitors such as grapefruit juice may increase the serum concentration of etonogestrel. Grapefruit juice contains a compound that inhibits CYP3A4 in enterocytes. The clinical significance of the interaction is unknown. It is possible that progestin induced side effects could be increased in some individuals. Patients should be advised to not significantly alter their grapefruit juice ingestion.
