ALBUTEROL (al BYOO ter ole) treats lung diseases, such as asthma, where the airways in the lungs narrow, causing breathing troubles or wheezing (bronchospasm). It is also used to treat asthma or prevent breathing problems during exercise. This medication works by opening the airways of the lungs, making it easier to breathe. It is often called a rescue- or quick-relief medication.

    Notes for Consumers: Caffeine-sensitive persons may experience nausea, nervousness, palpitations, problems with sleep, rapid heartbeat, or other side effects. Some patients may need to limit or avoid excessive caffeine intake from foods, beverages, dietary supplements or medicines. Caffeine containing items include coffee, teas, colas, chocolate and some dietary supplements or non-prescription medicines.
    Notes for Professionals: Caffeine may enhance the cardiac inotropic effects of beta-agonists.
