Food

· Notes for Consumers: Take oral voriconazole one hour before or one hour after meals. Food may decrease the amount of voriconazole that is absorbed into your body.

Voriconazole 200mg, Oral tablet
Grapefruit juice
· Severity: Mild
· Notes for Consumers: Side effects from Voriconazole may get worse if you drink grapefruit juice. Grapefruit juice may decrease the elimination of Voriconazole from your body. If possible, avoid drinking grapefruit juice while you are taking Voriconazole therapy. You may drink other types of juice, such as orange juice.
· Notes for Professionals: Grapefruit juice may interact with voriconazole, although human data are lacking. In the murine model, grapefruit juice administration lead to increases in voriconazole serum concentrations. The mechanism is most likely inhibition of voriconazole metabolism by CYP3A4. Until further studies are available, it may be prudent to advise patients to avoid consumption of grapefruit juice during voriconazole therapy.
Voriconazole 200mg, Oral tablet
Marijuana
· Severity: Moderate
· Notes for Consumers: The effects of marijuana may be increased and side effects may get worse if it is combined with this medicine. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this combination will affect you. Contact your health care provider right away if you notice slurred speech, confusion, severe drowsiness, increased heart rate, or any other new or unusual side effects.
· Notes for Professionals: The incidence of marijuana associated adverse effects may change following coadministration with voriconazole. Voriconazole is an inhibitor of CYP2C9 and CYP3A4, two isoenzymes responsible for the metabolism of marijuana's most psychoactive compound, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Delta-9-THC). When given concurrently with voriconazole the amount of Delta-9-THC converted to the active metabolite 11-hydroxy-delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (11-OH-THC) may be reduced. These changes in Delta-9-THC and 11-OH-THC plasma concentrations may result in an altered marijuana adverse event profile.
