VINCRISTINE (vin KRIS teen) is a chemotherapy drug. It slows the growth of cancer cells. This medicine is used to treat many types of cancer like Hodgkin's disease, leukemia, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, neuroblastoma (brain cancer), rhabdomyosarcoma, and Wilms' tumor.

    Severity: Major
    Notes for Consumers: Although an interaction is possible, these drugs are sometimes used together. Side effects from Vinca Alkaloids (drugs to treat cancer such as Vinblastine, Vincristine, Vinorelbine) may get worse if you take Grapefruit Juice. Discuss any new or worsening side effects, especially severe or persistent constipation or tingling in the fingers or toes with your health care provider.
    Notes for Professionals: Grapefruit juice inhibits CYP3A4 and P-glycoprotein (P-gp); vincristine is both a CYP3A and P-gp substrate. Coadministration could increase exposure to vincristine; monitor patients for increased side effects if these drugs are given together.
