VINBLASTINE (vin BLAS teen) is a chemotherapy drug. It slows the growth of cancer cells. This medicine is used to treat many types of cancer like breast cancer, testicular cancer, Hodgkin's disease, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and sarcoma.

    • Interaction: Grapefruit juice
    • Severity: Major
    • Notes for Consumers: Do not take Vinblastine with Grapefruit or Grapefruit Juice. Side effects from Vinblastine may be worse if you take these drugs together, including difficulty breathing, difficulty passing urine or blood in the urine, signs of infection or bleeding, pinpoint red spots on the skin, black, tarry stools, sore throat, fever, chills, sores in your mouth or throat, unusual tiredness or weakness, new or worsening constipation, stomach or abdominal pain, tingling in fingers and/or toes, or inability to pick-up items with your fingers.
    • Notes for Professionals: Advise patients to avoid grapefruit or grapefruit juice during vinblastine treatment due to the increased risk of avapritinib-related adverse reactions. Vinblastine is a CYP3A4 substrate and grapefruit juice is a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor.
