  • Demeclocycline Hydrochloride 150mg, Oral tablet

    Interaction: Calcium-containing foods
    Severity: Major
    Notes for Consumers: Specific food that is high in calcium such as dairy products (cheese, milk, yogurt, or cottage cheese) can decrease the absorption of Demeclocycline (a Tetracycline-Type Antibiotic) from the stomach. Taking dairy product or other high-calcium foods together together with Demeclocycline can decrease the effectiveness of Demeclocycline to treat an infection. To limit this interaction, take Demeclocycline at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals or milk
    Notes for Professionals: Calcium salts that are present in foods and dairy products can form chelates with demeclocycline and impair absorption. Administer demeclocycline at least one hour prior to or two hours after a meal and/or milk.
