TINIDAZOLE (tye NI da zole) is an antiinfective. It is used to treat amebiasis, giardiasis, trichomoniasis, and vaginosis. It will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections.

    Notes for Consumers: When Alcohol is taken by patients receiving Tinidazole, an extremely unpleasant reaction can occur. This reaction includes flushing, throbbing headache, nausea, vomiting, sweating, thirst, and other effects that may last from 30 minutes to several hours. You should not drink alcoholic beverages or use medicines that contain a large amount of alcohol while taking Tinidazole. Also continue to avoid Alcohol for about 3 days after stopping Tinidazole.
    Notes for Professionals: Avoid alcohol and preparations containing ethanol or propylene glycol during tinidazole therapy and for 3 days after because abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, headaches, and flushing may occur.
