    Interaction: Caffeine-containing Foods/Beverages
    Severity: Major
    Notes for Consumers: Do not use Caffeine with Givosiran without approval from your prescriber. Side effects from Caffeine may get worse if you take Givosiran. Too much Caffeine can cause effects, such as nausea, nervousness, sleeplessness, rapid heartbeat, or tremor. You may need to limit your Caffeine intake. Common foods and beverages containing Caffeine include coffee, teas, colas and chocolate. Many non-prescription drugs and diet aids may also contain Caffeine.
    Notes for Professionals: Avoid concomitant use of givosiran and caffeine due to the risk of increased caffeine-related adverse reactions. If use is necessary, consider decreasing the caffeine dose. Caffeine is a sensitive CYP1A2 substrate. Givosiran may moderately reduce hepatic CYP1A2 enzyme activity because of its pharmacological effects on the hepatic heme biosynthesis pathway.
