PACLITAXEL (PAK li TAX el) is a chemotherapy drug. It targets fast dividing cells, like cancer cells, and causes these cells to die. This medicine is used to treat ovarian cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, Kaposi's sarcoma, and other cancers.

    Notes for Consumers: It may be best to avoid Grapefruit Juice during your treatment. Side effects from Paclitaxel may get worse if you drink Grapefruit Juice, including nausea, vomiting, mouth sores, and pain, tingling, numbness in the hands or feet. Discuss any new or worsening side effects with your health care provider. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you notice fever or chills, sore throat, bruising or pinpoint red spots on the skin.
    Notes for Professionals: Advise patients to avoid grapefruit juice while taking paclitaxel due to the risk of increased paclitaxel exposure. Paclitaxel is a CYP3A4 substrate and grapefruit juice is a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor.
