Patisiran (pat i SIR an) is used to treat nerve pain, tingling, numbness, and weakness due to a genetic disorder called hereditary transthyretin-mediated amyloidosis (hATTR).
This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

This medication is injected into a vein. It is given by your care team in a hospital or clinic setting.
Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. Special care may be needed.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.

Interactions are not expected.

Visit your care team for regular checks on your progress. Tell your care team if your symptoms do not start to get better or if they get worse.
This medication can cause serious infusion reactions. To reduce the risk, your care team may give you other medications to take before receiving this one. Be sure to follow the directions from your care team. Your condition will be monitored carefully while you are receiving this medication.
Tell your care team right away if you have any change in your eyesight.
You should make sure you get enough vitamin A while you are taking this medication. Discuss the foods you eat and the vitamins you take with your care team.
Women should inform their care team if they wish to become pregnant or think they might be pregnant. Talk to your care team for more information.

Keep appointments for follow-up doses. It is important not to miss your dose. Call your care team if you are unable to keep an appointment.

Side effects that you should report to your care team as soon as possible:
-Allergic reactions—skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
-Change in vision
-Flushing, mostly over the face, neck, and chest, during injection
-Low blood pressure—dizziness, feeling faint or lightheaded, blurry vision
-Slow heartbeat—dizziness, feeling faint or lightheaded, confusion, trouble breathing, unusual weakness or fatigue
-Wheezing or trouble breathing
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report these to your care team if they continue or are bothersome):
-Joint pain
-Muscle spasms
-Sore throat
-Upset stomach
