RIMEGEPANT (ri ME je pant) is used to treat migraine headaches with or without aura. An aura is a strange feeling or visual disturbance that warns you of an attack. It is also used to prevent migraine headaches.

    • Interaction: Grapefruit juice
    • Severity: Major
    • Notes for Consumers: Do not take Grapefruit juice or grapefruit-containing foods and Rimegepant together without talking to your health care provider. Side effects may get worse if you drink Grapefruit juice or consume grapefruit-containing foods while taking Rimegepant. Discuss any new or worsening side effects with your health care provider.
    • Notes for Professionals: Advise patients to avoid coadministration of rimegepant with grapefruit juice; concurrent use may significantly increase rimegepant exposure. Rimegepant is a CYP3A4 and P-gp substrate and grapefruit juice is a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor and P-gp inhibitor. Coadministration of rimegepant with another strong CYP3A4 inhibitor increased rimegepant exposure by 4-fold.
