CABAZITAXEL (ka baz i TAX el) is a chemotherapy drug. It is used to treat prostate cancer. It targets fast dividing cells, like cancer cells, and causes these cells to die.

    Notes for Consumers: It is recommended that you avoid intake of grapefruit and grapefruit juice while you are receivinig cabazitaxel treatment. Taking grapefruit juice while you are taking cabazitaxel can increase the risk of side effects from cabazitaxel. Immediately call your prescriber if you experience pain, tingling, numbness in the hands or feet; unusual bleeding or bruising; or symptoms of an infection such as fever, chills, or sore throat.
    Notes for Professionals: Avoid coadministration of cabazitaxel with grapefruit juice due to increased cabazitaxel exposure. Cabazitaxel is primarily metabolized by CYP3A4 and grapefruit juice is a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor. In a drug interaction study, coadministration with another strong CYP3A4 inhibitor increased cabazitaxel exposure by 25%.
