IMATINIB (i MAT in ib) is a medicine that targets proteins in cancer cells and stops the cancer cells from growing. It is used to treat certain leukemias, myelodysplastic syndromes, and other cancers. It is also used to treat specific digestive tract tumors called GISTs.

    Interaction: Grapefruit juice
    Severity: Moderate
    Notes for Consumers: Grapefruit juice and grapefruit-containing foods may decrease the effectiveness of Doxercalciferol. Do not significantly increase grapefruit juice intake while taking this drug, or avoid grapefruit juice if possible. Report any change in your response to the Doxercalciferol treatment to your prescriber.
    Notes for Professionals: Although not specifically studied, cytochrome P450 enzyme inhibitors, such as grapefruit juice, may inhibit the 25-hydroxylation of doxercalciferol, thereby decreasing the formation of the active metabolite and thus, decreasing efficacy. Patients should be monitored for a decrease in efficacy.
