    Notes for Consumers: Although Barium Sulfate and Caffeine can interact, Barium Sulfate is only used in a hospital or clinic during various imaging procedures. Sometimes, Barium Sulfate is injected into your spinal fluid through your back (called intrathecally). If you have a high intake of caffeinated beverages (like coffee, colas, or teas) and you receive Barium Sulfate through your back, the risk of seizures could be increased. Discuss your caffeine intake with your health care provider prior to any procedures or exams.
    Notes for Professionals: Avoid caffeine containing products for at least 48 hours before myelography and for at least 24 hours postprocedure.
