    Notes for Consumers: Avoid or minimize your intake of alcohol while taking Probenecid. Probenecid is used to prevent gout attacks. Gout is caused by too much uric acid in the blood. Alcohol can cause an increase in the blood levels of uric acid and decrease the actions of Probenecid. Let your health care provider know immediately if you have a gout attack. Your medications may need to be adjusted.
    Notes for Professionals: Probenecid has uricosuric actions. Ethanol can also cause hyperuricemia. Dosage adjustments of probenecid may be necessary if these agents are administered concurrently.
