CHLORZOXAZONE (klor ZOX a zone) helps to relax muscles and to relieve pain and stiffness in muscles. It is used for acute (short-term) painful muscle conditions.
This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

Take this medicine by mouth with a glass of water. Follow the directions on the prescription label. You can take it with or without food. If it upsets your stomach, take it with food. Take your medicine at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed.
Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.

-antihistamines for allergy, cough and cold
-certain medicines for anxiety or sleep
-certain medicines for depression like amitriptyline, fluoxetine, sertraline
-certain medicines for seizures like phenobarbital, primidone
-general anesthetics like halothane, isoflurane, methoxyflurane, propofol
-local anesthetics like lidocaine, pramoxine, tetracaine
-medicines that relax muscles for surgery
-narcotic medicines for pain or cough
-phenothiazines like chlorpromazine, mesoridazine, prochlorperazine, thioridazine

Tell your doctor or health care professional if your symptoms do not start to get better or if they get worse. This medicine is used with rest, exercise or physical therapy, or other treatments that your doctor recommends.
You may get drowsy or dizzy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs mental alertness until you know how this medicine affects you. Do not stand or sit up quickly, especially if you are an older patient. This reduces the risk of dizzy or fainting spells. Alcohol may interfere with the effect of this medicine. Avoid alcoholic drinks.
This medicine may change the color of the urine. This effect is harmless and will go away after you are done taking the medicine. It will change urine to an orange or purple-red color.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only the next dose. Do not take double or extra doses.

Side effects that you should report to your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible:
-allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue
-breathing problems
-signs and symptoms of liver injury like dark yellow or brown urine; general ill feeling or flu-like symptoms; light-colored stools; loss of appetite; nausea; right upper belly pain; unusually weak or tired; yellowing of the eyes or skin
-uncontrollable head, mouth, neck, arm, or leg movements
-unusual bleeding or bruising
-unusually weak or tired
-vomiting
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your doctor or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):
-dizziness
-drowsiness
-headache
-nausea
-orange or purple-red color of the urine
-stomach upset
-tiredness

Keep out of the reach of children.
Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Keep container tightly closed. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.
