ALAMAX PROTECT Lifestyle Interactions

  • Everolimus 5mg, Oral tablet

    Interaction: Grapefruit juice
    Severity: Major
Notes for Consumers: Do not take Everolimus with grapefruit or grapefruit juice. Taking this medicine with grapefruit or grapefruit juice may increase side effects. If you accidentally take Everolimus with grapefruit or grapefruit juice, immediately tell your doctor about any unusual effects including fever, chills, cough, sore throat, pain or trouble passing urine, mouth sores, unusual bruising or bleeding, nausea, or vomiting.
Notes for Professionals: Instruct patients to avoid grapefruit or grapefruit juice with everolimus due to the potential for increased everolimus exposure and subsequent toxicity. Everolimus is a sensitive CYP3A4 substrate and a P-glycoprotein (P-gp) substrate. Grapefruit juice is a strong CYP3A4 and P-gp inhibitor. Coadministration with another strong CYP3A4/P-gp inhibitor increased the AUC of everolimus by 15-fold.
